Broadcast Capping System (BCS®)

Nelosca’s patented Broadcast Capping System, or BCS®, is the most efficient subaqueous sand cover and capping system in the world. It can place precise layers of sand, engineered caps, carbon mixtures, and rock armament up to 3 inches in diameter. This versatile system is time-tested and proven.

With thousands of subaqueous acres successfully covered, Nelosca's BCS® has been used to cover more area than any other system.  This system has been used on everything from environmental dredging projects to wetland remediation and habitat restoration projects.

Several real-time quality control checks measure cap thickness and distribution, minimizing over-placement or the need for second passes. This system can be used to cap a variety of depths and up along the shorelines to ensure complete coverage of underlying sediments. It can also be mounted on an amphibious platform for coverage in wetland and marshland areas with limited depths.

Delivery of materials to the capping system can be accomplished both hydraulically and mechanically, allowing a customized setup to best fit each individual project. The BCS® is very versatile and can be used on projects that include several hundred acres of open water, or in small canals with steep embankments.

Using this method, layers of capping material can be successfully built up over soft sediments in thicknesses suitable to support armament. Very little intermixing between the capping materials and underlying sediments occurs because of the deceleration process. Minimizing intermixing and over-placement results in substantial cost savings!
